Decoding a Partimento: Fenaroli Book 4, n. 2.
What's the first thing to do when you are facing a Partimento?
Before starting with any realization it's very important to decode all the elements.
There are 3 advantages to do this:
1) You can see all the patterns that compose the Partimento, like a succession of lego blocks.
2) You can recognize where each phrase in the bass line is moving to.
3) You can preview in your imagination which are the harmonic and contrapuntal elements you should put to perform a good realization.
